Basic steps to regsiter

To compete in XCR and/or AVSL, a AV BASE membership and Frankston Athletics Club membership is required to cover insurances etc. There are Open and Junior membership options so be sure to look at the relevant section.

Once you have chosen which membership works best for you, simply register with Frankston by hitting the “JOIN FAC!” button on this page or at the top right corner of our website.

XCR SERIES - cross country

WINTER CROSS-COUNTRY SEASON INFORMATION -the On XCR Series!

Join a series of community-based events and challenge yourself and enjoy several great locations around Victoria with friends.

No matter your running abilities, our cross country season features a range of distances and locations from inner-city courses to farm-land to rolling hills. They’re the perfect events to get outdoors, challenge yourself, and do your best with friends.

Our interclub cross-country competition is held throughout winter. XCR is a fantastic way to meet people in the community through our club. Frankston Athletic Club receives points when you participate, with multiple divisions available. XCR is fun, friendly and a fantastic way to become more involved in the athletics community.

AVSL - TRACK & FIELD

AVSL TRACK AND FIELD SEASON INFORMATION

Athletics Victoria’s Track & Field is contested during the summer season mostly on Saturday afternoons, from the start of October through to April. The Athletics Victoria Shield League (AVSL) is Athletics Victoria’s summer track and field main competition. Events vary each week with 2 differing programs that are hosted in different parts of metro and country Victoria. There is always a venue in the South East of Melbourne which is our closest. You do not have to compete in every event, once registered you just choose the events you would like to compete in by the Wednesday prior to the competition. 

Our interclub track and field competition is held throughout the summer. AVSL is a fantastic way to meet people in the community through our club. Frankston receives points when you participate with multiple divisions available. AVSL is fun, friendly and a fantastic way to become more involved in the athletics community.

Specielist meets

Specialist meets offer a higher level of competition for those looking for things a little faster, higher, and longer.

Specialist groups include AV Throwers (Hammer, Discus, Shot Put & Javelin), High-Velocity Club (Sprints, Hurdles, Horizontal Jumps and High Jump), Rare Air Club (Pole Vault), Victorian Milers Club (800m, 1500m, Mile and 3000m) and the Victorian Race Walking Club (Walks).

AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL CHAMPTIONSHIPS

Both Cross Country and Track and Field provide qualifying for the Australian National Championships held at the conclusion of each season. Athletes must either place at the relevant State Championships, or equal or better the Australian Athletics entry standards.

    Individuals wishing to obtain a Trialing Athlete entry cannot:

    ·  Be a current AV member

    ·  Have been an AV member in the past

    To attend AVSL please complete the form via the link below.

    This will provide an eligible individual entry into one round of AVSL.

    Eligible Trialling Athletes will be contacted via email following the closure of AV Member Entry to the respective round of AVSL. This email will provide information regarding the entry process. Following attendance at one round of AVSL, a Trialling Athlete will need to become an AV member to participate in any future rounds of AVSL.

  • Athletics Victoria organises a variety of events and participation opportunities for members.

    XCR/Winter: Our inter-club cross-country competition offers members a chance to come together with their club and fellow runners at a variety of locations across Victoria. There are multiple divisions available to suit different abilities – so anyone can join in! Also, your club will receive points when you participate.

    AVSL/Summer:Our inter-club track and field opportunity, AVSL, is a great way to try new events and earn points for your club. AVSL is a fun way to become more involved in athletics – with multiple divisions available.

    Club Meets: Many clubs host club meets throughout the summer. Club meets are a great place to start your athletics journey and build new skills.

    Specialist Meets: Specialist meets offer a higher level of competition for those looking for things a little faster, higher, and longer. Specialist groups include

    Plain black or red shorts or briefs with no logos eg. no top bands with logos (nike pro) or large logos/writing on garments

  • Once registered Athletics Victoria will either send you your Bib in the mail or it can be collected at the venue you first compete at.

    Please inform FAC committee members if you seem to be missing your bibs.
